Kate Gaskell is the Managing Director of farmer-owned Fair Trade nut company, Liberation Foods CIC who supply the majority of Fairtrade certified nuts in the UK. Liberation is co-owned by co-operatives of small-scale nut producers from Bolivia, El Salvador, Kerala, Malawi and Nicaragua. Kate’s earlier career included stints at Marks and Spencer and Tesco and as a volunteer in Belize,before finding her spiritual home in the world of Fair Trade.
Nuts about doing business differently Liberation Foods, became a community interest company in 2007. Co-operatives of small-scale nut producers from around the developing world decided to get together to form a UK company through which to market their produce.
